Magazine Covers with My Found Alphabet

For my typography class, I created a found alphabet. My next step was to take the content of my alphabet and translate it into a magazine concept. I brainstormed and came up with the following three magazine titles: Smoked, Lit and Wacky Tabacky.

Here's how I translated my alphabet, content and concept into magazine covers:

This is the most literal and subtle of all three

This is probably my favorite because it's a beautiful mix
of colors and the text  reflects the imposed photo

I loved using cigarettes as a backdrop
to a cover title made of tobacco

Collage: The Other Side of the Door

I created a collage for my digital layout class that I absolutely love and wanted to share. I want to print it as a poster and hang it in my room!

Awesome Design Community Site: Adventures in Making

I have some seriously amazing and talented friends and my dear friend, Alison Lang, created Adventures in Making. AIM is a creative community born out of Alison's nature to be a "Design Mommy." She has always been an amazing resource by offering up much needed direction and advice. I haven't joined in on the fun yet but I plan to.

Style: Complementing Not Matching

I'm not a matchy, matchy person. I like it when an outfit or design components (well in my opinion an outfit IS a compilation of design components) complement but don't match identically. Which is way this adorable pair of earrings caught my eye:

See not it's two cats or a pair of mice but a cat and mouse (via Anthro)! Also, I'm a sucker for design that is quirky and funny- so I obvs. need to buy these asap.
