I'm Turning Into a Typography Nerd
Because I'm noticing certain typefaces EVERYWHERE and I get really excited when I find a typeface I've seen before.
For example:
I finished reading The Glass Books of The Dream Eaters: Volume One a week or so ago and I was really excited when I figured out that the chapter title font is Trinigan.
My level of excitement about this discovery is commiserate with my typography nerdiness :). I love it.
I'm also really excited about finding this font because I'm creating a booklet based off the aforementioned novel and my project involves using typography creatively and expressively to invoke a certain playfulness and artistic rendering.

Magazine Covers with My Found Alphabet
For my typography class, I created a found alphabet. My next step was to take the content of my alphabet and translate it into a magazine concept. I brainstormed and came up with the following three magazine titles: Smoked, Lit and Wacky Tabacky.
Here's how I translated my alphabet, content and concept into magazine covers:
Here's how I translated my alphabet, content and concept into magazine covers:
![]() |
| This is the most literal and subtle of all three |
![]() |
| This is probably my favorite because it's a beautiful mix of colors and the text reflects the imposed photo |
![]() |
| I loved using cigarettes as a backdrop to a cover title made of tobacco |

Inspiration: Corbis 24/7/365
I subscribe to HOW magazine + Print Partners and received a beautiful email with a link to an incredibly interesting study of 365 photographs for every day of the year.
For the month of March I really like Friday, March 25 because of the intensely saturated colors and Monday, March 21 because of the scale and impact of the sign's typography.
Check it out.

Typography: Expressive Words
In my typography class I had a project to choose 3 expressive words and communicate their meaning through page composition, kearning and typeface manipulation. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and learned that some words seemed easy to express weren't.

Typography Project 1: CD Cover
My first project for my Typography class is to create a CD cover using only black and white and shapes. I choose Sara Bareilles' latest album: Kaleidscope Heart and here is my finished result:
Let me know what you think! I'm personally very pleased with it. The first week of school is off to a good kick start.
