Trend Report: Rocking Dots: Polka Dots for Everyone

I love a great polka dot print. I don't rock them all the time but I do indulge occasionally.

In celebration of Jess "I rock a lot of polka dots" Day , here are a few dresses that anyone who has an inkling to wear polka dots can rock.

If your style is more Charlotte than Carrie:

A great boat neck is flattering on almost every figure. The twist knot detail gives the pattern a twist (ha!) and makes it on trend (I almost sick of seeing twist knots every where). It's classy, figure flattering and a little of fun. You can buy it here.

If you're into the 1950's now and then (c'mon I know you get my reference) like I am or Ms. Zooey then this just might be the dress for you:

Out of the two, although I would wear both, this one is definitely more my style. If Carrie and Charlotte ever shared a closet then this dress might live in it. It's a dress I can imagine dancing in, strutting down the streets of New York in it with either my red heels or purple wedges or black round toe flats, and generally having a good time in it.

I think I would end up wearing it for years. You can dress it up or down, the office or a night out. Winner! Available here.

For a more classic and tailored look, I really love this DKNYC dress:

It's floaty, breezy and undeniably feminine. I love that is a button down and the sleeves can be rolled up or down. The weather in NYC is getting nicer and nicer, so I can't help but to imagine wearing this to work or brunch with my girls. You might be able to wear to a day time wedding if you accessorized with the right shoes, hair, clutch and jewelry. Since it's navy, not black, I would pair it with my wood stacked heel brown leather sandals.

I can see Miranda wearing it.

What do you think? Are polka dots your thing?

TV Obsession: Suits

Every once in awhile I watch a television show that has cultivated a world I wish I inhabited.

This is the case with Suits.

Harvey Specter played by Gabriel Macht and Mike Ross played by Patrick J. Adams
I started watching Suits because a) seemed similar to White Collar and b) Gabriel Macht is HOT.

Side note -  I loved him in Because I Said So.

I caught the pilot when it premiered and then my crazy work schedule sans DVR got in the way of me following the show religiously. I managed to catch it every once in awhile. Recently, I watched a few episodes back to back and got OBSESSED.

I kind of really want to be Harvey Specter. I want to be a good looking, HOT, cocksure son-of-a-bitch with the sharp intellect to back up my arrogance. Oh and I care, too just not too much.

I identify with his protege, Mike Ross, and would rather date him than Harvey. Plus I love that he has a touch of geekiness and eagerness in him.

If I'm going to be an admin/executive assistant I would want to be Donna; Harvey's right arm. Harvey can't live without her, she anticipates his needs, they enjoy a bantering relationship I'd want with my boss, she's in a position of power, she's valued and can call him on his shit. She's portrayed as intelligent which is true of so many admins yet rare in its protrayal.

A part of me wants to be Jessica Pearson, managing partner of founder of the firm Harvey and Mike work at, but she's someone I want to grow up to be, maybe.

The only other central character I haven't mentioned yet is the paralegal that Mike couldn't live without, Rachel. I don't think I'd want to be her because I already am. Doing a job and doing it well but not the ideal career - she wants to be a lawyer. With the exception that a) she probably makes more money than I do and b) there's no fun mutually attracted co-worker to befriend.

I enjoy the characters and the dynamic of the world they inhabit as well as with each other.

I also enjoy the storyline born from the cases they take. The cases are obvious foils to character arcs and development but that's a mark of a good television show like Ally McBeal, White Collar, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, etc.

Something interesting about Suits, that I just didn't give much thought to because it's not as obvious like say Sons of Anarchy or Mad Men, it's dude's show. Guys love Suits. Gotta say I agree.

Castle is Bringing the Sexy Back

Awesome premiere episode of Castle.

Great and clever writing, good comic timing by Fillion and Katic and the two strong female leads got a sexy makeover. Beckett's hair looks amazing and they updated her wardrobe and the ME aka Lanie got her sexy back, too. It made the show more glossy and fun. I love it when women are pretty, in style so to speak and still kick major ass by being smart- streets and book.

I still really love Castle and his family; love how he reveals his feelings about Beckett via his daughter, love that he is still a dad-mom, love how his mother puts him in his place, love that Castle is raised by women (his mother and daughter), and love that it separates Castle from being like a lot of other male television counterparts. Castle is boyish, handsome, a little immature and childish BUT he is mature when it comes to his family. He seems like a ladies' man and he is but he's a good ladies' man. Not quite the player or sleeze as he could be by other television show cannons.

Can't wait to come back for more next week.
