Inspiration and Appreciation : Peter Pan by Tina Tarnoff

I want children, so it's no surprise when I see a piece of art that is so whimsical, reminiscent of childhood as Tina's Peter Pan papercut is, I want to buy it NOW.

To save it and save it until it goes up in its rightful place in a child's bedroom. Kind of like how I bought a prom dress in high school before I had a date :).

To see Tina's other gorgeous and whimsical art works, visit her etsy shop and enjoy!

Things That Make Me Happy Right Now

First up- now that I got paid I get to get this pair of sexy and fun shoes (I'm not sure why I am so into heels right now considering I mostly wear flats to work every day):

After lucking out and not able to purchase the Marc by Marc Jacobs Teri Turnlock bag in red from Gilt, I used my brain power, desire to buy some unattainable, and found it on (drumroll) eBay! I won the auction and this pretty baby will be in my hands in the next week or so. CAN'T WAIT.

-On Sunday, Caitlin, Dustin, Lauren, Kyle, (mabye Audrey), and I are finally going to see Avatar at IMAX.
-I am going to see Citizen Cope in concert on April 3rd with saucy pookie Patty and her great boyfriend.
-Plans for going to the Olympics (Women's curling event) worked out :) AND I'll get to see my friend Carla who I met while in Switzerland back in fall of 2006.
-It's FRIDAY!

Inspiration and Appreciation: It Looks Good to Me

I love, love getting Daily Candy in my inbox every morning. The contents don't always strike my fancy but today, I found a new artist and her website. It Looks Good to Me. I am especially in love with her illustrations that are brought to life with watercolors:

This one could totally go on my kitchen wall at home. Especially considering how much I love my red wine :).

This may sound weird but this work reminds me very much of Carrie Bradshaw in the first few seasons of Sex and the City. I think it's because it was the first time I'd ever seen someone wear ankle socks with heels. And it looked fun and trendy :).

Titled, Make Love Not War, is just beautiful to me. I like that its slightly morbid with the hard gray of the gun and blossoming deep pink (reminds me a bit of blood) of the rose. It's a beautiful and striking contrast. I don't know where I put it up in my house. . .  maybe in the living room?

And of course this is a favorite of mine because she's a redhead! What can I say? Redheads only make up 1% of the population and I'm proud to be a part of it :). I particularly like it though because although the illustration is one dimensional, the watercolors make it move. I feel like at any moment, she could wink at me, blow me a kiss and saunter off the page with her fire red hair blowing in the wind. I think this one might be going up in my room sometime soon.

Click here for more illustrations and here for her fashion inspired blog (no shocker that fashion is the main topic seeing as Ms. Caroline is a fashion textile designer).

Enjoy!

My Party Outfit for This Saturday

On Saturday night- my friends Stef and Eric (Steric to some) are having a housewarming party complete with cocktail attire and a keg (hell, we are still in our twenties (for now)). I love a party because it will be with good friends and sure to be good times but also because I get to plan an outfit!!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I a) love clothes b)l ove an excuse to shop c) love to PLAN outfits and d)love wearing a well planned outfit.

I realize this is a little strange but I get a TON of pleasure out of planning and wearing an outfit that I love. So let me present to you, internet, the dress I'll be wearing on Saturday:

I got this fun and lively (and usually expensive) dress via the fabulous Gilt Groupe. It's by 7 for All Mandkind, view more here. On my pretty little feet (actually my feet are a size 8-9 and not so pretty but you get the point) are these fabu shoes:

There are by Madeline Shoes and I got them from the really cool and old Queen Anne Dispatch. They were on sale for half off! I don't know if I've ever met a pair of shoes I didn't love for $30. I love these because they feel Hollywood and trendy (when I wear them, I feel like I should be at a movie premier) yet comfy. I think the olive green/gray and brown/red netting will contrast the eye catching black and white pattern nicely.

I know it's not quite matchy-matchy and a little more funky but that's precisely why I love it :).

Another little fantasy/dream of mine? Fashion stylist.

Big surprise, I know.

Golden Globes Blogging Part 13

Standing ovation, Mr.Bridges!

Great credit to his wife :). The sap in me loves that.

I didn't know that where the GG are hosted that it has hosted dancing lessons. Bat Mitzvahs, etc.

Good shout out to Ms.Gyllenhall and Mr.Farrell! Even his stand in :). Warm fuzzies from his speech.

Julia Roberts will annouce Best Picture. . .

I'm thinking maybe The Hurt Locker because it hasn't won anyting, Avatar seems to be gaining momentum, maybe Precious because it hasn't won anything else either. . .

I think J.Roberts is definitely a H-town sweetheart. . . it's nice to know that some celebrities are really Movie Stars, not that reality crap Dlist shit.

It's back on she is LOVED. . .

Oh, she texts!!!

I like that she wore a short dress. Not stunning like R. Witherspoon's a couple of years ago but it's different. . .

She told her kids to go to bed.

Avatar it is!

I'm a little shocked. I thought some other movies were better. . . .

Golden Globes Blogging Part 12

Love RDJ's speech. . . so honest, quirky, and just LOVEABLE . . .

Really like the Parenthoood them song- becuase it is by the talented Lenka, "The Show." That is one artist who could use more recognition.

Best Actor for Drama . . .

Jeff Bridges

Maybe Clooney won't get his Oscar this year. ..

Golden Globes Blogging Part 11

Golden Globes Blogging Part 10

Best Actress is next.

7:31 Lainey: Did you see Maggie G talking to Carey Mulligan?

I so, SAW that. . . it seems like they would get on.

Did Ms. Mulligan take Mr. LaBeouf?

Apparently, I'm on the same page as Lainey, Duana, and Michelle:

7:31 Michelle: Is Shia Leboeuf with her?

7:32 Duana: I'm not googling - which is why I am still missing one.
7:32 Lainey: I haven't seen Shia. Sadness.

Ah, the Governator. . . good CA budget joke :). . . especially the J.Cameron and another NBC joke. I think I really like it when H-town gangs up on on a network :). It is DAMN entertaining!!

Mickey Rourke really came out on top . . . Best Actress. . .

Ms. Blunt
Ms. Bullock
Ms. Mirren
Ms. Mulligan
Ms. Sioughby

My want: Ms. Sioughy My guesss? Ms. Mirren

Golden Globes Blogging Part 10

Lainey hatin' on Lea Michele's overdressing:
7:21 Lainey: Lea Michele - Kate Beckinsale is jealous.

Not sure if I actually want to see When in Rome. . . the Stripper scandal sort of turned me off of J.Duhamel as much as I hate to admit it.

Please, pretty please explain Cancon:
7:23 Duana: Um, I take it back. Jessalyn's boobs are not good Cancon.

7:24 Lainey: Explain Cancon to our non Canadian readers.
7:24 Lainey: Or even to our Canadian readers

Thank you :):
7:25 Michelle: It's a short form for Canadian Content. So when there's a Canadian celeb, they're Cancon.

7:25 Duana: CanCon = Canadian Content. Desirable and/or mandatory component on Canadian networks. Also known as the reason I can tell you every star who came from my hometown.

(Michael Cera, Scott Thompson, Shawn AND Aaron Ashmore). (And some hockey player).

Oooh. . . I love me some Reese.

LOVE her dress. God, she looks amazing. . .

I want 500 Days to win but I don't think it will . ..

Wow, J.Foster is FIT.

The Hurt Locker intro right now. . .

Golden Globes Blogging Part 6

Def want to see Inglorious Basterds now. . .

Best Actor award for Comedy/Musical Movie coming up.

I think Glee will have its day, one day. . . it's a brand new show, so it's kind of amazing that it garnered 3 noms already.

They look like they do NOT like each other. How gross is his face??

Love, M.Gyllenhall's dress.

Kind of love Al Pacino right now. . .

Ahh. . . so cute about Cecil B. Mille award, I think having sex with Bar again does wonders for Leo's looks. Kind of like Sienna and Jude. . .

Martin Sorcsese is truly a genius. Master filmmaking, indeed :)!

This montage is quite brilliant.

Although H-town kind of has to ruin it with a promo for the upcoming Shutter Island. . .

Golden Globes Blogging Part 5

Nope, no wins for Glee, le sigh :(.

But the Sev is super cute in her speech . . . and yay for her actually thanking her co-stars unlike some other acceptance speeches. . .

I do like J. Jones's dress and hair. . . I think she'll end up with a GG one day for MM.

Golden Globes Blogging Part 2

Wrong about Broken Embraces.

I can't decide if I totally love or hate D.Kruger's dress, although it's obvious how FREAKIN' ADORABLE Mr. Jackson is with her. . . oh, le sigh.

My guess for best tv drama. . . Mad Men. . .

Woo hoo! I was right!!!

Golden Globes Blogging

The night so far. . .

Can't believe Drew B. bet out J. Lange and as much as I really wanted to love her dress and acceptance speech, it was more so, so.

Bummer Matthew Morrison didn't win for Glee :(. He's still on my freebie five. . . Alec Baldwin has won for the last 3 years or so, I hope one day it's someone new.

Love, love Toni Collette's dress.

F. Huffman was pretty adorable.

The Meryl was amazing, great speech.

I'm working on new collateral design while watching the GGs, maybe I'll get some inspiration???

Amy Adams has the best maternity dress and coats.

Love Olivia Wilde's dress.

Enjoying Lainey's live blogging.

Guess Broken Embraces will win. . .

Sew Disappointed! (Ha!- Get it?)

Yesterday, I busted my butt to get out of work on time, so I could hopefully add into a beginners sewing class (ADS 096) at Seattle Central. The online registration said that there were two seats open and I couldn't access the waiting list, so I thought I was good to go.

After running all over Seattle Central Campus (which is laughable because it's tiny), I finally found the classroom. I showed up 10 minutes late, sat through a half hour/40 minutes of class, only to be told that because I wasn't on the wait list, I could add this class.

I had gotten really excited during class and felt like it was really something I wanted to be doing. Only to be told- no, nope, not gonna happen, class is too full already.

I was sew bummed, sew disappointed . . .

They might not hold another session of 96 until summer (which is my least favorite season to be in school).

Le Sigh.

But I did go to Broadway Grill and enjoy some wine and sliders afterwards (mini pity party for moi)- it's happy all day there, so it was a justifiable pity party.
