Obsession: Neon Yellow: Enzo Angiolini Color Block Pumps

As my obsession with neon yellow rages on, I found these gorgeous Enzo Angiolini color block pumps:

Sigh . . . oh, god I love these.

Accents of neon yellow paired with a neutral color makes them more versatile, less loud and more timeless. Neon is such a trend right now and it's everywhere.

Trends like this don't really last. But then again I thought that about pointy shoes, jumpsuits and rompers and they are still around to some degree. Anywho . . .

I've been shopping online at Bloomingdale's ever since I got a gift certificate for Christmas from a broker. Thanks to my old job. I used some of it on much needed MAC make up but since then nothing has really excited me.

I've been looking for new shoes or a dress to wear to the wedding I'm going to in July. But no dice so far. I found a couple of shoes that I needed or a dress I liked but didn't fall in love with anything. I mean the I-have-to-have-it-am-obsessed reaction.

I have actually cash money to spend there, so I want to buy something I truly love (as opposed to need; see above) and instead of shopping for a good deal (which I always do and still will), I wanted to buy something expensive (which is all relative).

These shoes pretty much fit the above bill.

Only I don't know if I would actually wear them :(. I don't wear tall heels unless they are super comfortable any more because of all the walking around one does in NYC.

Plus, the older I get the less I want to wear uncomfortable shoes. Eh, I'm getting lazy :).

But I do love them . . .

Trend Report: Rocking Dots: Polka Dots for Everyone

I love a great polka dot print. I don't rock them all the time but I do indulge occasionally.

In celebration of Jess "I rock a lot of polka dots" Day , here are a few dresses that anyone who has an inkling to wear polka dots can rock.

If your style is more Charlotte than Carrie:

A great boat neck is flattering on almost every figure. The twist knot detail gives the pattern a twist (ha!) and makes it on trend (I almost sick of seeing twist knots every where). It's classy, figure flattering and a little of fun. You can buy it here.

If you're into the 1950's now and then (c'mon I know you get my reference) like I am or Ms. Zooey then this just might be the dress for you:

Out of the two, although I would wear both, this one is definitely more my style. If Carrie and Charlotte ever shared a closet then this dress might live in it. It's a dress I can imagine dancing in, strutting down the streets of New York in it with either my red heels or purple wedges or black round toe flats, and generally having a good time in it.

I think I would end up wearing it for years. You can dress it up or down, the office or a night out. Winner! Available here.

For a more classic and tailored look, I really love this DKNYC dress:

It's floaty, breezy and undeniably feminine. I love that is a button down and the sleeves can be rolled up or down. The weather in NYC is getting nicer and nicer, so I can't help but to imagine wearing this to work or brunch with my girls. You might be able to wear to a day time wedding if you accessorized with the right shoes, hair, clutch and jewelry. Since it's navy, not black, I would pair it with my wood stacked heel brown leather sandals.

I can see Miranda wearing it.

What do you think? Are polka dots your thing?

Sigh . . . . I really love Matt Bomer. Can't wait to see him on Glee!

Yay for High School Friends: The Brunch Edition

Basically it was dessert for breakfast, DE-LIC-IOUS!
I had a lovely brunch yesterday with my friend Matt and his friends. We ate at Bocca Lupo in BK and it was pure deliciousness. I definitely recommend it. Everyone enjoyed their meal. FYI - most options are egg-based meals.

I had a nutella and banana heated panini with homemade whip cream. It made me almost cream somewhere else (sorry - couldn't help myself! oops - that's another pun. I'm channeling Tawna right now).

It was a pretty great Sunday. Amazing meal, good company and some eye candy. An indisputably good looking guy walked in and we all stared.

Thanks for a lovely time hanging out on Sunday Matt.

Yay for High School Friends!

This week started out sh-tty and only got worse.

I am always so excited when my friend Sara from high school has to come to New York for work. Considering the hot mess I found myself in this week, I was really grateful that she was in town.

She was a bright spot and a burst of energy during this bleak week.

Even though I had some school to do (after the first day back of course) Monday night, I needed to be around a friend more.

We had a glass of wine at Bryant Park and then grabbed dinner at a pub. It was SO good to see her. Between the new job, a mixed signals guy and life, I really needed someone to talk to.

She was definitely the right person for it :).

Last night we went to Cafeteria had a delicious dinner, shared a carafe of sangria (so much cheaper than ordering separately), made friends with our dining neighbors and overall had a bad ass time. Our conversation was one of those rare blends that can only come about if you've known someone for a very long time.

We talked about some random yet appropriate high school memories (while debating dessert she remembered that's all I ordered for dinner when we went out to eat before Junior Prom), what's going with our lives right (mostly work and a little bit about boys - although we mostly covered that on Monday), and the right now - our delicious dinner.

Thanks for turning around a shitty week Sara. And being my cheerleader; in the best way.

Seriously?!

I woke up this morning and my iPhone is completely dead.

SERIOUSLY?!

Do I have to issues with all of my electronics in the same week?!

This is not going to be cheap :(.

Add to my iPhone distress that my plan to take care of stuff last night was a giant FAIL, I'm kind of a mess today.

Last night, I pumped myself to take care of my toilet and to do some much-needed-to-be-washed laundry. It was going to be a late because I had class, walked home, grabbed dinner, emailed some classmates, planned out and bought my cleaning supply list (bleach, gloves, mop, etc.), and I knew doing laundry takes a couple of hours.

I had no idea just how long it was going to take.

Meanwhile, I'm paranoid the whole time I'm going to wake up/keep my roommates but I desperately wanted to get everything done. The only way I could stay up so late?

Listening to music. Which is not so ideal for our tiny place, so I did my best to keep the volume low and be very quiet with the doors.

Timeline
840 - Out of class, walk home
930 - Get to my neighborhood
1030 - Finished dinner, made my to buy list and emailed my classmates
1130 - Get home after buying cleaning supplies
1230 - Start laundry because I am finally done cleaning the bathroom
115 - Put laundry in dryer
115 to 135 - Fight with dryer because it won't start even though I'm banging my body every which way to make it take my damn money
135 - Bruise the outside of my right palm
140 - Finally figure out it needs more $$.
145 - Change the only cash I have (a $1 bill for quarters) at the corner deli
150 - Finally start the dryer
215 -  Fall asleep on accident

820 - Awake without the alarm BECAUSE MY IPHONE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
820 - Realize I woke up 20 minutes late, freak out
820 - Run out to the kitchen because the only clock I have is on my phone or computer which I don't have because neither is WORKING
825 - Retrieve laundry that is still wet which is so annoying considering all I went through just to have clean towels
849 - Manage to barely get out the door and not be late for work

I may have a mental breakdown today.

This Week Just Keeps Getting Worse

I woke up this morning and my toilet is totally clogged and some nasty (no pun intended) business may be going on.

Every time I wake up this week, something has gone terribly wrong during the night.

NO BUENO

I woke up this morning and am almost rolled into cat vomit.

Instead I found it all over the left side of my Macbook Pro.

Karl Lagerfield fascinates me. Reminds of what I've read about Coco Chanel; just a little bit. Also - I want to kidnap that kitten and take it home with me."The cat is like a very refined object; she doesn't go into the street, and she doesn't go to other places." (Harper's Bazaar)

I could have written this. Seriously. Anyone who has ever seen a room of my can attest to it. Not only that but there are some awesome HP references and things that I've written like "le sigh" and her use of "clearly." (Hello Giggles)

Sam Patrick's Day

I am REALLY excited about tomorrow.

I go all out on St. Patrick's Day because it is one of my favorite holidays; if not my #1.

Last year, I had a great time celebrating St. Patrick's Day with Jamie, Eamon and Ella. This year, I'll be heading to Katie and Sam's for a double whammy - St. Patty's Day AND Sam's birthday.

St. Patrick's Day + Sam's Birthday = Sam Patrick's Day

Gearing up for tomorrow, I searched high and low in Union Square (big score at Party City - of course, IT'S THE ONLY ONE IN MANHATTAN! and Staples) for all sorts of awesome, not cheesy St. Patrick's Day crafty materials.

Then I ventured to Greenpoint, BK.

Not after: getting on the G going the wrong way and then exiting at Greenpoint only to walk in the wrong direction. Oh yeah, and on the way home I got on the 7 going the wrong way, too. Not entirely my fault as the 7 was running in both directions on the same track and I managed to only go 1 stop before I realized it.

I'm special people, SPECIAL.

Anywho, after I arrived at Chateau Katie + Sam and was served with delicious broccoli and a Brooklyn Brewery beer, Katie, Tessa and myself spread out the crafty supplies and got to planning.

Obvs:
Lots of Shamrocks
Garlands

Clearly, this was going to be a very neat and tidy activity:

I can't wait to see how everything looks when Chateau Katie + Sam is fully decorated!

It's supposed to be nice tomorrow (every St. Patrick's Day for the last 5 years, I've been on the East Coast and each year, it's been beautiful weather), fingers crossed!

It would such a great Sam Patrick's Day to be BBQ-ing, hanging out in the sun, chatting and relaxing all day. Then to celebrate, if we keep it together, will be to go to The Bell House's Saint Patrick's Day for Sinners.

It's an all redhead revue and party. Redheads get in for free! I love that since I am one.

Like I said, I am REALLY excited for tomorrow.

I Heart Jersey City

This Saturday I adventured out to a new, mystical place called Jersey City.

I discovered I really liked this charming and quiet mini-city away from the city.

For these reasons:
1. TARGET!
2. Beautiful day time and night time view of the Manhattan skyline.
3. Legit Mexican food @ Taqueria.
4. It's so quiet.
5. Lots of families.
6. Cheaper sales tax.
7. TARGET!

 Yup, I'll be back. . .

I Really Love

This:

You can buy it here via Fresh Words Market.
I want this in my house because it reminds me that EVERYONE is capable. No idea is too small or too big. It can all be worth it if you win.

Obsession: Company Names

Coming up with a company/brand name is one the biggest and most fun challenges when thinking of creating your own company.

I've envied my friends that came up with such fun and unique names, such as Camp SmartyPants, Slide-Sideways and So, there. Not only did the brilliant Rachel Beyer, Jacqui and Scott Scoggins and Alison Lang (respective company founders) pick unique names but the names captured the identity and feel of their brand.

Other company names I heart:

Silence & Noise
Hive & Honey
Tinley Road
Sparkle & Fade
Wildfox
Coincidence & Chance
Accidentally in Love
Cooperative

Today is a GREAT Day

It is my last day at Prudential Douglas Elliman.

I am excited to hang out with work friends tonight and to start my new job as the office manager for Bonetti Kozerski Studio.

Cheers to new beginnings!

I Love This

AND I'm responsible for it. Today was a fun day in GD1. Gratefully, it doesn't apply to my life as of late.

Obsession: Neon Yellow: Echo Design North South Bag

A few weeks ago, I suddenly and inexplicably became obsessed with neon yellow.

Partly because it's everywhere. Partly because it is AWESOME!

Meet my newest purchase:

Badass right?
  • I'll never use the short handles but I'm glad they are there; just in case.
  • The outside pocket is a fun and functional added feature.
  • The adjustable crossbody strap is a perfect neutral (I am SO glad it's not black - would've been too obvious) and great for running around this crazy city.
  • It's lightweight, so when I add all of my crap everyday necessities it won't kill my back and shoulder.
  • Big enough to fit my laptop.
  • Great inside pockets - one clear zippered (I'm putting my beauty stuff in there) on the back, a larger deep pocket (for pens and notebook) and two smaller pockets (iPod and iPhone holders) together in the front inside.
  • Always patent is super easy to clean and it repels water.
Get yours here. It's a brand new bag from Echo Design. Echo is a pretty cool company coming out with more badass products every season.

*This is not a paid ad. I bought the bag and I simply can't stop gushing that I LOVE it.
